The Dalai Lama

During the 1930's the great thirteenth Dalai Lama predicted that Tibet was going to go through a great struggle, and says to his people that he is going to die soon. That way he can be younger and help his people. Buddhists believe that people go through a succession of reincarnations before they reach the state of nirvana. They believe that the Dalai Lama is Buddha reincarnated. Each time before the Dalia Lama dies, he leaves clues as to where his reincarnation may be. After the Dalai Lama dies, the monks search for years, asking questions, solving riddles, trying to find the reincarnation of their leader, the Dalai Lama. After years of hard work and determination, when they find the young Dalai Lama, he is taken back to Potala Palace where he spends all of his childhoood reading, studying scrolls, and practicing rituals. After years of being locked up in his own palace, studying, the Dalai Lama must take a very hard test from his loyal monks before he is crowned king of Tibet.
